OBDF 210A - ASSIGNMENT [06.) SURFACE DESIGN: TESSELLATION] - Jayden (Gillian) Nese

My tessellation took quite a bit of finessing to get right, for whatever reason my head got quite confused on how to make everything line up and match. I think the curves are successful, though one thing I wish I changed would be the top and bottom. Although I wish they could connect to show one consistent wave, I was worried about the lines being incomplete curves rather than a singular shape.

The shape was inspired specifically by clouds, ocean waves, and the curve of my logo's jaw where I thought the rounded flow would fit nicely alongside it

  For my castle I decided to make a candy cake inspired off of the candy kingdom from Adventure Time. I got the idea because while playing around with moving shapes in class I put a ball on top of a cone and thought it would be fun to go in a more playful direction for the project. I'm rather bad at geometric shapes and creating mechanical designs such as architecture in a way that looks like it makes sense in the world so letting myself have an easier introduction to 3D modeling felt far less scary.  I think I was most successful in the smaller assets that I created for this project, things like the popsicles and chocolate bar all came out really well, though my weakest point I find is the icing as it doesn't look all that convincing as a colored tube rather than having that organic cresting proper piping does. OBDF 210A - ASSIGNMENT [03.2) INNITIALS LOGO: CONCEPT GENERATION] - Jayden (Gillian) Nese

  I decided on these two thumbnails, and though I wish I had time to recreate them both, I had to settle for only one and chose the slightly simpler design as my biggest struggle in Rhino is still using the arc tool. My workspace is often quite a mess as seen here, constant guidelines and measurements as I refine the design and work on making everything visually even, wanting a much more graphic approach than my usual much more organic work. Overall I'm honestly very happy with how the final came out and actually wish to potentially use it as my legitimate logo on my portfolio, though one issue I do take with it is the visual complexity by the thigh compared to the simpler chest and neck area, making the thickness and composition a little unbalanced.
